House Rehabilitation

Through a partnership with the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, we have limited dollars for critical house repairs to low-income, elderly owner-occupied homes to help these individuals stay in their house.

This service is limited to individuals who reside in one of the following counties:

  • Cabarrus
  • Cleveland
  • Davie
  • Iredell
  • Lincoln
  • Rowan
  • Union
  • Wilkes
  • Yadkin

Individuals are selected on a first come – first to qualify basis. Other eligibility requirements include:

  • Applicant is elderly (62+) and/or disabled.
  • Income must be less than 80% of the county median. This income limit would cover approximately 85 percent of retired individuals or those living on disability.
  • Owner must occupy the home.
  • Site-built homes only (sorry, no manufactured houses).
  • House needs any of many types of repair. Including:
  • Energy efficiency improvements
  • Better handicapped access.
  • Urgent repairs – roofs; floors; electrical etc.

Expenditures are limited to a maximum of $45,000 per home. The dollars are in the form of a no-payment, no-interest loan to the owner which is forgiven at $3,000 per year.

For more information or to find out if you are eligible, contact us at 704-943-9490 | 800-977-1969 | email us.
